Effect of damping-off on the growth parameters of cucumber plants
P. melonis inoculation decreased fresh and dry weights of roots and shoots, root volume and collar diameter between cucumber genotypes significantly. This reduction was greater in high susceptible Mini6-23 and Extrem (Table 2). No difference in these plant growth parameters was observed between the inoculated Ramezz, compared to the healthy control (Table 2). A strong significant negative correlation between the percentage of disease incidence caused by P. melonis and the fresh weights of roots (r2 = -0.65), dry weights of roots (r2 = -0.83), root volume (r2= -0.68), and collar diameter (r2 = -0.70) were determined. There was also a moderate negative correlation between the percentage of disease incidence and root diameter (r2 = -0.57).
