Abstract
COVID-19 is a positive sense, single stranded, enveloped RNA virus
having the genomic size of 29.9 kbp. This virus was first observed in
Wuhan, China on late December 2019 in a patient who reported the
symptoms like viral pneumonia. WHO declared this virus a global health
emergency on January 30, 2020. The sign and symptoms of this infection
include shortness of breath, dry cough, chest pain, vomiting, nausea,
confusion and skin discoloration. SARS-CoV-2 can be transmitted via
airborne, droplets and even touching of infected person to non-infected
person. There are various risk factors physical as well as mental which
are responsible for the infection such as age, gender, area, health
facilities, economic status, education status, stress and depression.
This review article is about the association between mental health and
COVID-19 infection, describes key factors responsible for infection, its
mechanism of pathogenicity and association between mental health and the
