Life is possible because stars made (and make) all the stuff inside us and inside all other living things. To understand how this happened, how this stuff went from the inside of stars into us, I use big computers to understand their life and death. Stars are huge balls made of light stuff. This light stuff gets turned into heavier stuff, most of which makes our bodies. This also keeps the insides of stars hot, which in turn keeps stars bright. This is just the beginning, and many other things can happen. For once, stars are not still, and the stuff in their insides can be moved around like water. And yes, this can also change the way they live and die. So understanding the inside of stars is important to understand their lives and deaths, and how all the stuff around and in us is made. As I said, computers help with this. But how can we see deep inside stars from far far away, so that we can check stars in the computers are like stars in the sky? It turns out that stars are sometimes shaken, which means there is sound moving in the star. Stars make some kind of music. The sound can not be heard because stars are far and there is no air between stars. But the music also changes the star light, and that we can see from far away. By the change in the light, we can read the music, the sound, and then understand the deep insides of stars.
