A 34-year-old woman presented due to progressive painful swelling around the nail of the right index finger. Onychectomy and drainage of the abscess of the affected finger were performed as the inflammation was progressive despite the previous antibiotic therapy. The microbiological culture revealed a ciprofloxacin-susceptible Citrobacter braakii.

Pulmonary Tuberculosis (PTB) and Novel Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19) primarily affect the lungs. Both diseases present with fever, cough, and shortness of breath and possess thrombotic potential as well. Therefore in COVID 19 pandemic, PTB must be taken into consideration for suspected cases in order to avoid fatal consequences.

Hemoglobin S (HBS) and hemoglobin E (HBE) are common hemoglobinopathies, but combined heterozygosity of HBS and HBE (HBSE) is relatively a rare disease. Most reports suggest that HBSE is generally benign condition. In this report we describe a 17-year-old male patient presenting with acute chest syndrome treated with exchange transfusion.

As the clinical course of COVID-19 infection in SCD patients is not clear, close monitoring is essential. We emphasize that RBC exchange should be offered early to avoid possible deterioration. We present a case of COVID-19 infection in a SCD patient causing severe hemolysis, that improved after RBC exchange.

Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is rarely associated with cancer. The association paraneoplastic vasculitis and tumors appears to be more frequent with hematologic cancers. The authors report the case of 83-years-old Caucasian man, diagnosed with prostatic adenocarcinoma who developed a paraneoplastic GCA responsive to corticosteroids associated with disease progression.

Endocarditis due to multidrug-resistant Enterococci and specifically multidrug-resistant Enterococcus faecium (E. fαecium) is rare. Optimal antimicrobial therapy still remains undefined and a challeging issue. We report a case of native valve endocarditis due to vancomycin-resistant E. faecium (VRE) in a 65-years-old man with significant comorbid conditions.

A patient with Birt-Hogg-Dubé Syndrome (BHDS) developed metastatic follicular thyroid cancer, which until now has never been described in someone with BHDS. Thyroid cancer is not currently recommended for screening with BHDS. This case presents implications for future guidelines and planning for renal transplant in patients with this condition.

Necrotizing pneumonia (NP) is a severe form of lung disease with a high mortality rate. Although NP generally occurs as a complication in community-acquired pneumonia, our case illustrates that NP can occur as a secondary infection even if the clinical course of COVID-19 pneumonia is favorable, particularly in intubated patients.

A 55-year-old man with left temporo-insulo-parietal glioblastoma was admitted because of abrupt excruciating pain in right arm and ipsilateral face. EEG showed a left central frontal rhythmic activity and complains were controlled with anti-epileptic drugs. Paroxysmal pain is an unusual manifestation of focal seizures and can be the only symptom.

This case report describes the clinical history of a COVID-19 patient with a non-immediate diagnosis of severe dysphagia that required a gastrostomy positioning. A vocal folds paresis was observed for the first time in the course of a Sars-CoV-2 infection. Thanks to intensive rehabilitation treatment, the outcome was favourable.

Behcet's disease is a systemic autoimmune disorder occasionally associated with otological manifestations, including sensorineural hearing loss. We are reporting a case of Behcet's disease, which was complicated by sensorineural hearing loss and managed successfully with anti-TNF agent Infliximab.

We suggest PLAID,APLAID and FCAS3 have to be considered as same diseases,because of our long-term clinical experiences and genetic results in six patients.Small proportion of CVID patients are also PLAID/APLAID/FCAS3 patients and all these have disease-causing-mutations in PLCG2-genes,so it may be better to define all of them as “PLCG2 deficiency”.

Imatinib is used as first-line treatment for chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) even in patients with impaired renal function. We successfully used therapeutic drug monitoring to determine the dose for re-administration of imatinib in a CML patient who initiated dialysis for acute renal dysfunction associated with the initial imatinib therapy.
