Authorea aims to make research writing and dissemination more effective and modern for all of research. That means academic research as well as tech, biotech, pharma, real estate, and financial research, to mention a few. One question we receive almost across all groups when discussing how Authorea might be able to help researchers is: "Can we customize the appearance of articles and profile pages to use on our own site?" Our answer: "Yes, soon." Today, we're happy to introduce the ability for groups, labs, teams, private companies, and large organizations to customize the appearance of their organization page as well as their documents (see Fig \ref{303825}). This group-based feature is currently available only to licensed groups (see pricing page).

In this article, we will examine two cases of table overflow, for Authorea's PDF export. Namely horizontal, exceeding the page width, and vertical, exceeding the page height.

Here we describe "Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Medicine" (IEMed), a short elective course that exposed medical students to innovation and entrepreneurship in digital health.IntroductionEntrepreneurial and software-driven technology companies, known as "tech", are reinventing established industries, including transportation, national defense, and even healthcare. For the past three years, investment in digital health - a broad category of tech including analytics, biosensing, population health management, medical records, and software-driven devices - has exceeded $4B annually. However, implementation of techology into clinical workflow has been slow.Medical students and young physicians are well positioned to contribute to tech's foray into biomedicine for two reasons. First, they are comfortable with technology, which permeates most aspects of their lives as consumers. Second, they possess insight about unmet clinical needs and care delivery.Unfortunately, medical students are not exposed to opportunities in tech even though industry efforts can represent "translational research in its rawest form".ApproachTo address this problem, we created an elective course for second-year medical students at our institution (a private medical school in a large metropolitan city in the United States) called IEMed, which was held in the fall semester and lasted three months. We developed the following learning objectives:Assess a startup using the business model canvas as a framework.Learn about healthcare economics and reimbursement.Appreciate how behavioral economics assesses decision-making.Review advances in digital health and health information technology.Survey accelerators, incubators, and other startup resources.Learn about patents and the fundamentals of intellectual property.Understand the role of angel, seed, & venture capital investors.Meet like-minded students, clinicians, engineers, and startup founders.See how academic clinicians collaborate with the tech industry.Nine students enrolled in 2014, and ten students enrolled in 2015. Each learning objective was explored through a lecture and Q&A featuring a guest speaker with relevant experience. Sessions were also accompanied by suggested readings. We recorded videos of several sessions to provide educational assets to a broader audience. The full course schedule, reading materials, and videos of select sessions were available through a course website.Students also completed a project in teams of three. Each team selected and evaluated a startup company using the "business model canvas": a visual chart describing market strategy, value proposition, infrastructure, customers, finances, etc. ( Figure 1). Each week, teams focused on one component of the canvas, learned more about their startup by conducting research online, or speaking with founders of the startup and/or potential customers, and shared their findings with the class. We also connected medical students with MBA students at our institution's business school to provide input. At the end of the course, teams presented their canvases and discussed clinical implementation and business development strategies.

The power of the atomAt the beginning of the 20th century, major advancements in our understanding of fundamental physics led scientists to the discovery of nuclear energy. An unprecedented amount of power could in principle be released by combining (nuclear fusion) or breaking (nuclear fission) certain atomic species under special conditions. Nuclear fusion in particular was understood to be the process powering the immense luminosity of stars, including our Sun. Nuclear fusion is the light-bulb illuminating the vast living room of our Universe.Why so much energy?Burning fossil fuels releases chemical energy. This chemical energy is stored in the mild electromagnetic interactions between atoms in a compound. Nuclear energy, on the other hand, comes from the very central regions of the atom.  As the name suggests, it is stored in the nuclei, which are kept together by the strong force. The strong force is much stronger than all the other forces, including the electromagnetic one. As a result, nuclear fuel has an energy density about ten million times larger than chemical fuel. If your car was running on nuclear fuel, its gas mileage would be something like hundreds of millions of MPG. From light to darknessThe physics revolution that characterized the first three decades of the 20th century and led to the development of quantum mechanics and nuclear physics, was followed by the second World War. In 1942, the United States started a very ambitious project to build a nuclear weapon. The Manhattan Project, led by Robert Oppenheimer and gathering some of the best physicists on the planet, culminated with the successful Trinity experiment in 1945 (Fig.\ref{982837}). The first detonation of a nuclear weapon was the most shocking demonstration of the great power of science and the scientific method. Only less than a month later, two nuclear bombs were dropped over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, resulting in the end of WWII and the death of hundreds of thousands of people. The sheer destruction inflicted by the atomic bomb left an indelible mark on humankind's consciousness, formally starting a new era in the history of man. An era of greater responsibility. While no nuclear weapons have been purposely used in war ever since, more than 2000 nuclear tests have been performed after the Trinity, Hiroshima and Nagasaki explosions.
