Silvana Fiorito
Associate Senior Researcher at CNR
Since 2003 she has been carrying out research in the field of the toxicity of carbon nanostructures, both synthetic and anthropogenic, their interactions with several cell types and their potential biomedical applications at the Institute of Translational Pharmacology - CNR - Tor Vergata Research Area, Rome (Italy). Her main research fields are: a) the study of the biocompatibility and / or toxicity of synthetic carbon nanoparticles (Carbon Nanotubes, Fullerenes, Graphene) and their potential applications in biomedicine, b) the study of the in vitro and in vivo toxicity of the carbonaceous nano particulate deriving from the combustion of diesel engines and its role in the pathogenesis of immune-mediated and neuro-degenerative diseases
