Well-being
Abstract
More than 40% of teens in Sri Lanka suffer from mental health
issues, Everyone deserves to have good mental health care, but sadly,
due to various reasons, mental health is a sector which is often
neglected; this is exactly what we are trying to tackle with web-based
mental health support system. UNICEF has issued mental health as one of
the key areas that need attention. This website aims to support patients
in need, under privileged/ poor people will have a chance to gain mental
health advice/prescriptions from an army of voluntary doctors via
website. Sri Lankans still consider mental issues taboo, so this website
will allow people to get treatments discreetly. This research includes
findings from consultations with a number of mental health specialists
and proposed solutions to identified problems. The aim is to increase
the standard of mental health and reduce stress for the people using the
site. The website is designed to stimulate the brain’s reward sectors
through visual and acoustic media. The final goal is to see Sri Lanka
increase its mental health standard and reduce the number of individuals
suffering from mental issues.
