The paper describes the structure of a wireless sensor network. This is able to measure, transmit and store field sensor data from a rural environment. The data are stored at a web server and they are available on a web page. LoRa transceivers are responsible for the transfer of the data from the sensor to the gateway. This allows long distances but with a limited data rate. A data acquisition system reads the sensor and transmits the data via LoRa protocol at the 868 MHz frequency. A gateway receives the data and send them to the internet. If there is no direct link between the sensor and the gateway, one or more repeater will forward the data. The gateway between the LoRa and the internet will transfer the data to a web server. All data are available on this server for further analysis. Arduino Uno and Mega Boards and RTF95W LoRa modules are the basis hardware for the sensors, repeater and gateways. An important request to this sensor network was the modular set up of the complete system. Additional no commercial cloud provider is used. All components of this sensor network are self-designed and manufactured.
