Increasing interest is shown in deploying electric vehicles (EVs) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption. However, their widespread adoption is hindered by factors such as the limited availability of battery converters for electric vehicles. To surmount this limitation, there is a need for compact, efficient, and cost-effective EV charging technologies. In addition, these technologies should operate with minimal harmonics and high power factors. This paper addresses an AC-DC converter with power factor correction (PFC) for fueling electric vehicles. The objective of developing compact and cost-effective charging solutions, such as the proposed converter, is to facilitate efficient and rapid charging while addressing availability issues. The incorporation of power factor correction increases power transfer efficiency and decreases harmonics. Electric vehicle (EV) charging technology advancements are essential for promoting the widespread adoption of EVs, providing convenience, and contributing to environmental sustainability.
