Dr Russell Lyons joined the Animal Genetics Laboratory in late 2013, following 12 years of conducting research projects within CSIRO's Division of Livestock Industries as a research scientist. He obtained his PhD in Molecular parasitology at the University of Technology, Sydney in 1998, and spent the following 4 years as a postodoctoral fellow at Unioersity of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. Russell also obtained a Masters Degree in Agribusiness in 2012 at the University of Queensland.
Russell is an experienced research scientist with inter-disciplinary expertise and interests acros a fields including aquaculture genetics and transcriptomics, proteomics, parasitology and biomaterials research, all underpinned by his expertise in molecular biology.
