D R Mailapalli is an associate professor in agricultural and food engineering department at IIT Kharagpur, India. He has over 10 years of teaching, capacity building, and research experience in land and water resources engineering. His current work is particularly focussed on: on-farm water management, surface and groundwater quality assessment/modeling, IoT in agriculture, and water education. He has led/involved in training and capacity building activities, in both online and offline modes, in the areas of irrigation and nutrient management for participants from different colleges and research institutes in India and abroad. He has significant experience in developing short course learning resources for professionals through Govt. of India run schemes such as, GIAN, NPTEL and ARPIT courses on irrigation, surface and groundwater interactions. He has over 17 research projects funded by various national organizations, and published 65 peer-reviewed journal articles, 6 book chapters, and 45 conference articles.
